The Academy

Discipline before deployment

An untrained observer with a camera is a liability to the process and a risk to themselves. Training exists so that every YEGO observation is lawful, neutral, accurately recorded and safe to carry out.

The Academy is the point at which YEGO's institutional claims are tested. The methodology sets the standard; the modules teach it, one subject at a time, and each is scored separately so that a weakness in one area cannot be hidden behind strength in another.

Training is delivered to admitted cohorts only. Admission follows verification of the applicant's identity and location by authorised officers. An application alone confers no standing.

Curriculum

9 modules, each assessed on its own

A guard is certified only when every required module has been passed. The pass mark is not uniform: the standard is set where the risk is.

Certification

What certification requires

Certification is a claim YEGO makes about a person on the strength of a record. It is therefore granted only against the full standard, never in part.

Code of conduct and neutrality

Every required module passed

There is no partial certification and no provisional standing. Election-day conduct cannot be assembled from the parts of the syllabus a guard happened to complete.

Why the code of conduct carries the highest pass mark

Neutrality is the qualification that makes every other skill usable. An observer who is accurate but partial discredits their own record and the organisation's. Breaches after certification are handled through the disciplinary process set out in the observer methodology.

Certification is earned, not givenAttendance does not confer standing, and neither does seniority. The assessment record, not the cohort list, determines who is certified.
Training and certification process

Eight steps, in order

The Academy's output is a certified guard who can be assigned to a mapped polling unit and trusted with what they record there.
